CRIMINAL DEFENSE

The Joy Law Firm has a heart for Criminal Defense.  Attorney Joy attended law school at Mercer University under the tutelage of Professor Deryl Dantler, the long term Dean of the National Criminal Defense College (NCDC).  Through these experiences, Joy excelled in Advanced Trial Practice and Advanced Trial Evidence.  This catapulted her into an accelerated term at the Office of the Public Defender, 9th Judicial Circuit where she earned Felony Advocate of the Year in 2003.  

 
 

DUI

Being arrested for a DUI can be scary and costly.  You can lose your job, drivers license and, often, scholarships, professional licenses and the like.  Attorney Joy can help you navigate the process and will work to mitigate the damage of a night of bad decisions.  If you've been charged with DUI, certain time restrictions apply and you should seek legal counsel right away.  

 

Misdemeanors

Misdemeanors include offenses punishable by up to 1 year in prison or 1 year on probation.  They can include things like:  Battery, Domestic Violence Battery, Petit Theft, Resisting an Officer Without Violence, Possession of Marijuana, etc.

Felony

The most serious of criminal accusations, if you are charge with a Felony you must educate yourself on the potential dangers of a conviction.  Felony offenses include:  Aggravated Battery, Child Abuse, most Drug Offenses, Grand Theft of a Motor Vehicle, most Sex Offenses, and even some DUIs.  

Attorney Joy gained extensive court room experience through her career and will work hard to provide the best possible outcome.  Often this means negotiating a favorable plea offer. However, sometimes it means taking a Case all the way to Jury Trial.  When this is necessary, you want someone with experience on your side.
